Established in March 2006, the purpose of the Global Business Practices Work Group (GBPWG) is to develop and document best practices for global e-Commerce in the Oil & Gas industry.

PIDX members were motivated to undertake this task by challenges encountered while implementing e-Commerce in the global marketplace. These challenges include variations in legal, fiscal and business practices between countries. GBPWG captures, aggregates and publishes country-specific best practices and information provided by PIDX standards practitioners in the form of Country Profiles.

As PIDX expands globally, it is envisaged that the Country Profiles will highlight specific new business processes or documents that may be required to allow eCommerce to operate correctly in each new country, such as the tax document linked to each invoice in certain Latin American countries.  This, in turn, would drive the Business Process or Business Messaging workgroup to consider a work item to address the newly identified need.

Work Group Deliverables:

•    High Level Business Profile of each country
•    E-Business Profile of each country
•    E-commerce guidelines by country

These Country Profiles are published on the PIDX website in a WIKI format. You can find these templates by visiting:

Initial Submission Profiles exist for the following countries:

Nigeria, Angola, Bahrain, Kuwait & PNZ, Kazakhstan, UK, Norway, The Netherlands, Venezuela, Brazil, Columbia, Argentina, Canada

Suggestions for modifications should be submitted to Dave, see contact details below. Also anyone who is interested in joining GBPWG or would like more information is encouraged to contact Dave Wallis at dwallis@ofs-portal.com or +44 7780 700782.
