Chris Welsh - PIDX Board Member

OFS Portal, President and CEO

After a strong career in the UK defense industry, Chris joined Baker Hughes in 1995 where he was a senior member of the marketing team at the company’s headquarters in Houston, defining and implementing a global B2B strategy. Within his responsibilities, he worked with OFS Portal and was Vice Chair of PIDX, the industry’s eCommerce standards body.

In 2006, he was a co-founder of what became ACT Global Consulting, a firm which directly helps oil and gas companies become eCommerce capable by implementing best practices.  He has over 30 years of Information Technology, eCommerce and Consulting experience managing numerous global projects for operators, services companies and eCommerce platforms across the globe.  

Chris is past-Chair of PIDX Europe and he holds a Masters degree in Computing from the Open University in the UK.  He is a keen rock climber and Ducati super-bike enthusiast.

Andrew Mercer - PIDX Board Member

BP, Vice President, Global Projects – Information Technology and Services

Andrew Mercer is currently Vice President for Information Technology and Services (IT&S) for BP’s Global Projects. In this role, Andrew is accountable for the strategy, execution, and delivery of all IT&S services to the Global Projects Organisation, in both the major projects and the global function.

Andrew has held various leadership roles in BP including Head of Architecture & Design in Business Functions, Solutions Director for the Upstream Backbone business transformation programme and Chief Architect in Procurement & Supply Chain Management.

Outside of this role Andrew is an active advocate of BP’s process management agenda serving as a member of the enterprise process governance council.

Prior to joining BP in 2006, Andrew was a member of the IT management team at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) responsible for Corporate functions, having served previously as CIO at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals UK prior to the formation of GSK.

Andrew graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 1985 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science.


Mary Rose Martinez - PIDX Board Member

Halliburton, Senior Director, Information Technology Architecture and Security

Mary Rose Martinez is the Senior Director of Information Technology (IT) Architecture and Security for Halliburton, and a member of Halliburton’s IT Leadership Team. In this role, she is accountable for IT enterprise architecture and technology standards, and corporate information security.

With 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Mary Rose has held various leadership and strategic development roles across information technology, marketing, and software research and development. She is a graduate of Halliburton’s President’s Leadership Excellence Program, a yearlong leadership development program in which a select group of high-potential senior managers, directors, and first-time executives participates each year.

Mary Rose holds a bachelor degree in both computer science and mathematics from the University of St. Thomas, and a master of computer science degree from Rice University.

Terry Thomas - PIDX Board Member

Schlumberger, eCommerce Manager

As the Schlumberger eCommerce Manager, Terry Thomas is responsible for the development and implementation of Schlumberger global sell side eCommerce strategies. This includes responding to all projects and customer initiatives related to electronic interactions (e.g. Reverse Auctions, Online Bidding, e-Sourcing, electronic invoicing) with Schlumberger customers. This included consulting with Schlumberger Areas, Geomarkets, Segments and Global Account directors and operations identifying and responding to eCommerce activities.

As the Schlumberger member representative to the Oilfield Suppliers (OFS) Portal, Terry Thomas, promotes improved efficiencies and mutually beneficial cost effective processes and standards to enable seamless system-to-system data exchange within the Upstream Oil & Gas industry. This includes ensuring eCommerce terms and conditions regarding data security, ownership, usage and confidentiality.


Amit Sethi – PIDX Board Member

Baker Hughes, a GE Company, Regional CIO MENAT and India 

Amit, a seasoned IT Leader, is passionate about driving high impact strategic outcomes for businesses leveraging his technology expertise, customer centricity, people leadership skills and business acumen.   

Amit is currently working as the MENAT and India region CIO for Baker Hughes GE. He additionally plays the roles of Digital Customer Experience leader and People leader for the MENAT and India IT teams. He also works in close partnership with the Regional Business CEO in defining the Digital Industrial Internet Go to Market Strategy for the BHGE business.

Amit has overall 18+ years of IT experience spanning IT Strategy and execution, P&L Leadership, Industrial Internet and ERP Consulting experience. Amit’s experience spans IT consulting and Industry IT roles in PwC (2000-2002), Computer Sciences Corporation (2002 to 2005 and 2012 to 2014) and GE (2005 to 2012 and 2014 to present).

Amit has completed his Management Education from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow in the year 2000 and his Degree in Electrical Engineering from V.J.T.I, Mumbai University in 1997. Amit is also a certified PMP from PMI. Amit is currently pursuing his Executive PhD from IIM Lucknow in Marketing. The research is on the impact of customer to customer collaboration in online communities on Brand Loyalty.

Amit is a graduate of the prestigious Executive Information Management Program from GE Crotonville. Amit has received multiple awards & appreciations for Leadership, Performance, Innovation and Teamwork during his stints with GE, CSC, Genpact and PwC. Some of the key awards received are the Strategic Initiatives Excellence Award from the GE O&G CEO, Diamond award from the CEO of Genpact, Employee of the Quarter Award at CSC and the award for Outstanding Performance at Genpact. Amit is a speaker at multiple Industry forums and B-Schools on various areas centered around Digital and Customer relationship management. 


Sebastian Gass – PIDX Board Member

Chevron, General Manager – Technology, Strategy & Services

Sebastian Gass is the General Manager for Chevron’s Technology, Strategy and Services division within the IT Company (ITC). In this role, Gass is responsible for Chevron’s Digital Transformation Strategy, Data Science, Enterprise Architecture, Project Management, Operational Excellence, Supplier Management, Services Definition and Business Planning groups.

He previously managed Chevron’s Data Center Infrastructure Asset which he transitioned into a hybrid cloud world via an Industry first partnership deal with Microsoft. Prior to that, Gass was the Regional IT Manager for Chevron North America Exploration and Production (CNAEP), responsible for the information technology needs of six business units focused on exploration and production of heavy oil, Unconventionals, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and deepwater. In this role, Gass was responsible for creating Chevron’s Data Science program as well as establishing Chevron’s digital platform for Unconventionals.

Prior to joining Chevron in 2007, Gass was the chief technology officer and executive vice-president at Hubwoo, a publicly-traded European company that provides comprehensive spend management and business process collaboration for goods and services. He started his career in information technology with SAP in Palo Alto, CA.

Sebastian holds a M.S. / MBA from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe Germany and a M.S. Engineering Management degree from Stanford University.

Roger Bhalla

Roger Bhalla – PIDX Board Member

ConocoPhillips, Manager of Supply Chain Services and Technology

Roger Bhalla is currently the Manager of Supply Chain Services and Technology for ConocoPhillips.  In this role, Bhalla is responsible for the company’s procurement shared services and optimizing global supply chain processes and IT systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.

Prior to joining ConocoPhillips in 2012, Bhalla was the Vice-President of Supply Chain Enablement at Hewlett-Packard.  In this capacity, he drove a significant expansion of supply chain capability for >$250M in annual profit improvement, while standardizing business processes and consolidating IT systems.   In his 15 years at HP, he held a number of leadership positions in Supply Chain, Marketing and Business Planning. 

Earlier in his career, Bhalla was with the Ford Motor Company in Procurement, as well as with General Dynamics and Santa Clara Plastics in Engineering positions.

Bhalla holds an MBA in Marketing/Management and Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering, both from the University of Texas (Austin).  He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CPSC) from APICS.
